Maharashtra FYJC Admission 2025: After resolving technical issues, Maharashtra education department resumed the Maharashtra First-Year Junior College (FYJC) admission process for the 2025-26 academic year today, May 26, from 11 am. The admission process originally began on May 21, through the official portals, i.e., mahafyjcadmissions.in, but due to technical issues, students and parents reported difficulties in accessing the portal, espeically through mobile.
A total of 20.43 lakh seats are available in 9,281 junior colleges offering three major streams, i.e., Science, Commerce, and Arts. The admission process includes multiple stages, and all the students are advised to be well-informed about the various steps to ensure a smooth admission experience.

According to education officials Maharashtra FYJC admission's website crashed after around 1.5 million students attempted to access the platform simultaneously. The Maharashtra state government has rolled out centralised online admission process for FYJC across the entire state for the first time.
Maharashtra FYJC Admission 2025: More time to students
Mahesh Palkar, director (Projects) of school education has stated that valuable suggestions related to technical changes in the online admission system had been received from parents, students and concerned officials, staff, and educationists in the state.
He assured all the parents for more time to fill the application and said, “Although the application process starts late on the portal, students will be given sufficient time to fill the application form and register their preference.”

“Efforts are being made to ensure that no error remains. The opening time of the admission portal will be indicated online. Students will also be informed through e-mail and mobile messages,” Palkar added.
Maharashtra FYJC Admission 2025: New academic year from July 1
The Maharashtra government has allowed colleges to begin the new academic year for FYJC from July 1, provided that at least 50% of the seats are filled. Colleges who have not reached this threshold limit can begin classes by August 11

Here's the seat availability and stream-wise distribution as a total of 20.43 lakh seats are available across 9,281 junior colleges in Maharashtra.
Science: 8,52,206 seats
Commerce: 5,40,312 seats
Arts: 6,50,682 seats
In the Pune division, there are a total of 3,75,843 seats; 1,03,705 for Science, 1,01,971 for Commerce, and 1,70,170 for Arts.
Students are allowed to select up to 10 preferred junior colleges during registration and the seat allotment process will be based on merit and preference.
