India ODI captain Rohit Sharma on Tuesday started training at a suburban Mumbai facility with former national assistant coach Abhishek Nayar amid clamour for a "youth only" policy in the 50-over format following the success of the inexperienced Test squad in England.

Indian Super League franchise Punjab FC on Tuesday announced a 26-member reserve squad, including nine U19 players, for the upcoming State Super Football League.
Runners up at the last season, Punjab FC will open their campaign against Dalbir FA in New Chandigarh on Saturday.
Coached by Praveen Kumar, Punjab FC have 16 players from Punjab and the coach has also named six players on standby.
Manav Singh, who was named in the senior squad for the Durand Cup 2025, has also been included.

India's bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games will get a formal seal of approval from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) during the top sport body's Special General Meeting (SGM) here on Wednesday as the country has emerged favourite to host the multi-sport event.
The main agenda item for the SGM at the IOA headquarters is the 'Approval to submit a bid to Commonwealth Sport (former CGF) for hosting the 2030 CWG in India, including any incidental actions therewith'.
The other two items to be discussed by the SGM are: (a) consideration and passing of the audited statement of accounts for the financial year 2023-24; and (b) appointment of statutory auditor for the financial year 2024-25.
Since it's an SGM, the discussion will be restricted to the three mentioned agenda items.
India has already submitted an Expression of Interest for the 2030 CWG with Ahmedabad selected as the host city. But the country will have to submit the proposals for the final bid before the August 31 ...

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been left out of the squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham amid increasing reports he will leave the club.
PSG named its squad on Tuesday for the match, which is being held in Udine in Italy. Goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who recently joined from Lille for just over 40 million euros ($46.44 million), was included along with backup goalie Matvei Safonov.
Chevalier's arrival could signal Donnarumma's departure, with the 26-year-old Italy international unlikely to accept being No. 2 if coach Luis Enrique decides so.
Donnarumma was arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe last season, playing a key role in PSG's Champions League success with inspired shot-stopping in the knockout stages. He also starred for Italy when it won the European Championship in 2021.

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday said the passing of the National Sports Governance Bill in both houses of the Parliament will transform India's sporting landscape and make decision-making athlete-centric.

The BCCI will come under the purview of National Sports Bill but the Right To Information (RTI) Act won't be applicable to the country's richest sporting body which doesn't take any grant from the government.

Young opening batter Ayush Mhatre was on Tuesday named captain of Mumbai's 17-member squad, which also features India batter Sarfaraz Khan, for the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament beginning in Chennai later this month.
Mhatre, who made his First-Class debut last season for Mumbai, went on to make his mark in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings and was later named captain of the India U-19 team, which went to England for a multi-format tour.
