The duo made a mockery of what seemed a competitive total, reaching the target with such ease that it appeared they never broke a sweat.
Sai Sudharsan’s explosive start sets the tone
From the very first delivery of the chase, Gujarat Titans looked in control. While Gill took his time to settle in, it was Sudharsan who set the early tone, launching into the Delhi Capitals bowling attack with a flurry of boundaries. His aggression at the top allowed Gill to ease into his innings without pressure, and soon, both batters were matching each other stroke for stroke.
Gill accelerates, Sudharsan reaches his second IPL century
As the innings progressed, Gill shifted gears seamlessly, catching up with Sudharsan by the time both were in the 70s. A pivotal over against T Natarajan saw Sudharsan unleash a series of powerful strokes, racing past the three-figure mark to register his second IPL century. The Delhi Capitals bowlers tried everything—from pace variations to spin—but had no answers for the clinical assault from the Gujarat openers.

Earlier, KL Rahul rose to the occasion with a spectacular unbeaten century, guiding Delhi Capitals to an imposing 199 for 3 against Gujarat Titans. Promoted to open the innings, Rahul capitalised on the opportunity with a stunning 112* off 65 balls, decorated with 14 boundaries and four sixes.
Milestone Alert: Rahul Becomes Third-Fastest to 8000 T20 Runs
Rahul's blazing knock also saw him etch his name in the record books, becoming the third-fastest batter to reach 8000 runs in T20 cricket, achieving the feat in just 224 innings.
Early Blow for DC as Du Plessis Falls
Delhi Capitals, asked to bat first, suffered an early setback when Faf du Plessis was dismissed for just 5 in the fourth over by Arshad Khan, who returned impressive figures of 1/7 in two overs.
Solid Partnerships Lay Strong Foundation
Undeterred by the early loss, Rahul anchored the innings with maturity and flair. He stitched a 90-run stand off 52 balls with Abishek Porel, who made a brisk 30. This was followed by a 45-run partnership in 26 deliveries with skipper Axar Patel (25), and an unbroken 48-run flourish with Tristan Stubbs (21*), as DC built a robust total.

Rahul displayed a wide array of strokes, targeting the off-side with precision and clearing the boundary effortlessly. He signalled his intent by pulling Kagiso Rabada over long leg for his first six, later adding another over long-off.
Middle-Order Support Helps Capitals Push Past 150
Abishek Porel added momentum with two maximums before falling to Sai Kishore. Axar Patel too joined the party with a boundary and a six off the same bowler, helping the Capitals cross the 150-mark before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna.
Century in Style: Rahul Hits Fifth IPL Ton
Rahul shifted gears in the death overs, slamming two sixes in the 19th over to bring up his century in 60 balls—his first of the season and fifth overall in the IPL.
Stubbs Finishes Strong as DC Fall Just Short of 200
Tristan Stubbs played the perfect finisher's role, adding quick runs with a couple of powerful hits. Together with Rahul, he took Delhi Capitals to the brink of the 200-run milestone, setting Gujarat Titans a challenging target of 200 to chase.
Earlier, Gujarat skipper Gill won the toss and elected to field against Delhi.
The Titans have brought in pacer Kagiso Rabada in place of Gerald Coetzee.
For the Capitals, Vipraj Nigam replaces Madhav Tiwari while Mustafizur Rahman comes in for Mitchell Starc, who has opted not to return for the remainder of the IPL.
